WHAT WE STAND BEHIND

Workmanship & Material Warranty Information

How our workmanship warranty works, what manufacturer warranties cover, what’s explicitly not covered, and how to file a claim. No fine-print tricks — specific terms come on your written estimate.

WORKMANSHIP COVERAGE

What our workmanship warranty covers.

Workmanship covers how we did the install — labor, technique, and the things only a contractor controls. Material defects are covered separately by the manufacturer.

  • Sealed joints holding under normal use

Miters, end caps, and downspout outlets we sealed with butyl sealant (or soldered, on copper) should not leak in normal weather conditions during the warranty period. If they do, we re-seal at no charge.

  • Sections staying hung

Gutters we hung with hidden-hanger screws into solid fascia should not pull loose under normal snow load or routine use. If a section drops because a fastener we placed didn’t hold, we re-hang it at no charge.

  • Correct pitch and drainage

Each run is pitched at install and water-tested before we leave. If a run develops standing water within the warranty period because the pitch we set wasn’t correct, we re-pitch it at no charge.

  • Guards staying seated

Guards we installed should remain clipped or secured to the gutter without lifting in normal conditions. If a panel works loose because of how we mounted it, we re-secure it at no charge.

Specific warranty period is disclosed in writing at the time of quote. We do not advertise a single fixed term here because the appropriate length depends on the system installed.

MANUFACTURER WARRANTIES

What manufacturer warranties cover.

Every material we install comes with its own manufacturer warranty, separate from our workmanship coverage. We hand over the original documentation at the end of the install.

Micro-mesh gutter guards

Stainless-steel micro-mesh systems from established manufacturers often carry long-term coverage against clogging, structural failure, and finish degradation. Specific terms vary by manufacturer and product line.

Industry range: long-term / often lifetime

Baked-on enamel paint finish

Factory-applied enamel on seamless aluminum coil stock typically carries a multi-decade warranty against chip, peel, and fade. Coverage is pro-rated by some manufacturers.

Industry range: 20–30 years

Seamless aluminum coil

The aluminum itself is warranted against material defects from the mill. Aluminum doesn’t rust the way steel does, so most failure modes are physical (impact, snow load beyond rating) rather than corrosion.

Industry range: 20+ years against defect

Copper gutter systems

Copper sheet itself isn’t typically “warranted” in a consumer sense — it’s expected to outlast the home. Soldered joints are warranted under our workmanship coverage. Patina is a natural process, not a defect.

Industry range: 50+ year service life

Hidden hangers and fasteners

Hidden-hanger hardware is warranted by the manufacturer against breakage in normal use. Manufacturer terms vary; the hardware we use is documented on the project invoice.

Industry range: varies by manufacturer

Heat cable (ice dam prevention)

Self-regulating heat cable carries a manufacturer warranty against element failure. Typical terms are multi-year. The cable is rated for roof and gutter exterior use; we use only listed products.

Industry range: multi-year, varies by brand

The ranges above reflect industry norms for the product categories — not a specific promise. The exact manufacturer, model, and warranty paperwork for your project is itemized on your estimate and handed over at install.

EXCLUSIONS

What’s explicitly not covered.

Up-front so there’s no surprise on a call later. None of these are workmanship failures — they’re events, owner actions, or normal wear after warranty period.

  • Storm and impact damage

Wind tearing a section loose, hail denting front lips, a tree limb crushing a downspout — all real but all insurance events, not workmanship. We document the damage to help your claim.

  • Owner-induced damage

Ladders pulling sections loose, holiday lights driven through the front lip, pressure-washing the inside of the gutter, debris stuffed down the outlet — events caused by activity on or in the gutter after install.

  • Normal wear after warranty period

Sealant ages, finishes weather, and aluminum eventually develops surface oxidation. Warranty covers premature failure during the disclosed term — not the natural service life beyond it.

  • Third-party modifications

Another contractor adding work to our system (a downspout re-route, a guard panel swap, a roof job that disturbed the gutter) voids workmanship coverage on the affected section.

  • Lack of basic maintenance

Gutters without guards need clearing once or twice a year. A failure caused by years of debris buildup that overwhelmed the system isn’t a workmanship issue. Guards installed at the same time as the gutter neutralize this exclusion for most homes.

  • Pre-existing fascia or roof issues

If we flagged a soft fascia board or a failing roof edge before install and you chose to proceed without addressing it, failures originating from that condition are excluded. We document this in writing on the estimate.

FILING A CLAIM

How to make a warranty claim.

  1. Call us

Call (208) 247-2660 with your original install date and a brief description of the issue. No ticket queue, no national call center — you reach the same team that did the install.

  2. Document with photos

Text or email a few photos of the affected area. Wide shot of the run, close-up of the failure, and a shot of any visible water damage on fascia or below. Photos let us scope the visit before we drive out.

  3. Schedule a visit

We confirm warranty coverage, scope the work, and schedule the repair visit. If the issue is covered, the repair is at no charge. If it’s outside warranty (storm damage, owner-induced), we quote the repair like any other service call.

SELLING THE HOME?

Warranty transferability for new owners.

Workmanship warranty terms — including whether they transfer to a new owner — vary by project and are disclosed in writing on the original estimate. Some installs include transferable workmanship coverage; others are tied to the original purchaser.

Manufacturer warranties on materials (particularly micro-mesh guards and aluminum coil stock) often include transferable terms or limited transferability. We hand over all manufacturer warranty paperwork at the end of the install so a future buyer has the original documentation.

If you’re selling the home and need to confirm transferability for the buyer’s closing paperwork, call us at (208) 247-2660 and we’ll send a written confirmation of what transfers under your specific project.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the workmanship warranty?
The workmanship warranty period is disclosed in writing on every estimate before any work is scheduled. We do not publish a fixed number here because the appropriate term depends on the system installed (full replacement, guard install, repair visit, or cleaning) and the home's condition. Ask for the warranty term to be itemized on your written quote.
Is the warranty transferable to a new owner?
Workmanship warranty terms vary by project type and are disclosed in writing on the original estimate. Manufacturer warranties on materials — particularly micro-mesh gutter guards and aluminum coil stock — often include transferable terms; we hand over all manufacturer warranty paperwork at the end of the install so a future buyer has the original documentation.
What voids the warranty?
Common causes: storm or impact damage (not a workmanship issue — file with insurance), third-party modifications (a different contractor adding work to our system without our involvement), owner-caused damage (ladders pulling sections loose, debris stuffed in downspouts), and lack of basic maintenance (allowing the gutter to fail because debris was never cleared, when guards weren't installed).
Who do I call if I have a warranty issue?
Call us directly at (208) 247-2660. We handle warranty calls in-house — no national call center, no ticket queue. Have your original install date and a brief description of the issue ready; photos by text or email speed things up.
What's the difference between workmanship and material warranty?
Workmanship warranty covers our labor: how the gutter was hung, how the joints were sealed, how the downspouts were routed. If a joint we soldered or sealed fails in normal use within the warranty period, we re-do the work. Material warranty covers the manufactured product itself — the aluminum, the mesh, the paint finish. Those warranties come from the manufacturer (we hand you the paperwork) and cover defects in the material, not installation.
What does the gutter guard warranty cover specifically?
Micro-mesh gutter guards typically carry a manufacturer warranty that covers the mesh itself against clogging, structural failure, and finish degradation. Specific terms vary by manufacturer; we hand you the original warranty documentation for the system installed on your home. Our workmanship warranty covers how the guards were mounted and sealed to your gutter, separate from the manufacturer warranty on the product.
