Gutter Insurance Claim Help in the Treasure Valley

We document storm damage, write quotes in the format adjusters use, and walk the property with your insurance carrier when needed. We are a contractor — not a public adjuster — so our job is accurate documentation, not claim negotiation.

PLAIN-LANGUAGE EDUCATION

How insurance claims work for gutter damage.

Typically covered

  • Hail damage from a documented storm event
  • Wind-pulled or wind-torn sections after a covered wind event
  • Damage from fallen trees, branches, or windborne debris
  • Ice and snow load damage from a winter storm event

Typically NOT covered

  • Age-related wear, sagging, or paint failure
  • Damage from lack of maintenance (clogged gutters causing overflow)
  • Gradual fascia rot from long-term leaks
  • Pre-existing damage filed after the policy reporting window closed

Your specific coverage depends on your policy and carrier. Read your declaration page or call your agent before assuming either way.

OUR ROLE IN YOUR CLAIM

What we provide for your claim.

  1. Written damage assessment

Plain-language report of what we observed on-site — location, what we believe caused it, and the scope of repair required. Written so an adjuster can read it without translation.

  2. Photo documentation

Wide-elevation shots plus close-ups of every damage point, captioned with location and observation. Delivered as a clean PDF you can forward to your adjuster directly.

  3. Itemized repair quote (adjuster format)

Linear footage, gutter profile, hanger count, downspout count, accessories, and labor as separate line items. Matches the structure adjusters use on their scope sheets.

  4. On-site adjuster meetings

If your adjuster is coming out, we can be there at the same time. Walking the property together avoids the back-and-forth of disputed scope and usually speeds the claim approval.

TRANSPARENCY

What we do NOT do.

Four lines we will not cross. If a contractor tells you they will do any of these for you on an insurance claim, it is a red flag.

We are not a public adjuster

A public adjuster represents you in the claim negotiation and takes a percentage. We are a contractor. We document accurately and write an honest quote — that is it.

We do not negotiate with your insurer on your behalf

We will not call your adjuster and argue for a higher settlement. If there is a dispute over scope or coverage, that is between you, your insurer, and (if you choose) a public adjuster or attorney.

We do not match a number to your deductible

Some contractors will quietly write the quote so the net cost equals your deductible. We do not do that — it is insurance fraud and it puts your policy at risk. Our quote reflects actual repair cost.

We do not pressure you to file

If we look at your damage and think you are better off paying out of pocket, we will say so. Sometimes a $700 repair makes more sense than a $2,500 deductible and a mark on your loss history.

CLAIMS WE HAVE DOCUMENTED

Common claim scenarios in the Treasure Valley.

Four patterns we see consistently across the region. Each one usually qualifies as a covered event under standard Idaho homeowner policies.

Nampa & Canyon County

Hail damage

Summer hail events along the western Treasure Valley are the most common claim type we document. Dents on K-style front lips, downspout damage, and seam compromise.

Caldwell

Wind-pulled sections

Wind events out across Canyon County pop hidden hangers loose and tear sections down at the seams. Usually qualifies as a covered sudden event under most homeowner policies.

Bench & North End (Boise)

Ice and snow load damage

Freeze-thaw cycles in older Boise neighborhoods bend gutters outward when ice releases. Documented as winter-storm damage on most policies.

Foothills (Boise)

Tree-fall and branch damage

Foothills wind events drop branches onto roof edges. Crushed gutters, separated downspouts, and damaged hangers all from the same incident — usually a single-event claim.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a contractor quote before filing the claim?
Not always. Most carriers will accept your claim with your photos and a description of the damage, then send their own adjuster to assess. Some carriers do request a contractor estimate up front. Either way, having our written quote in hand speeds the process — you can submit it with the claim or use it to verify the adjuster's scope when they arrive.
What should I photograph for my claim?
Wide shots of every elevation of the house, close-ups of every damaged area, the surrounding context (fallen branches, debris, water trails on the ground), and the inside of any room where water has entered. Time-stamped photos are stronger evidence. Take more than you think you need — you cannot re-shoot a storm.
Will I owe anything before insurance pays?
Most carriers issue the first payment minus your deductible after the adjuster's report is approved. You typically owe the deductible directly to us when work starts (or per the schedule on your contract), and the carrier pays the balance. If your scope exceeds the initial settlement, the carrier issues supplements as needed.
How do you format quotes for adjusters?
We separate the quote into the same categories adjusters use: gutter run by linear footage and profile, downspouts by count and size, accessories (end caps, miters, hangers), and labor. Each line shows the unit price. That structure lets an adjuster cross-check directly against their scope sheet.
Do you work with all insurance companies?
Yes — we provide documentation to whichever carrier you have. We do not have preferred-vendor relationships with any insurer, which means we are not on a carrier's approved-contractor list. Some homeowners prefer that (no incentive to write favorably for the insurer); some prefer a vendor on the list. Both choices are valid.
Can you meet the adjuster on-site?
Yes. We charge our normal rate for the on-site visit (free for the initial assessment; the adjuster meeting may be a separate appointment depending on timing). Walking the property together often resolves scope disputes before they become claim disputes. Call to coordinate the schedule once you have the adjuster's date.
