WHAT WE SEE AFTER STORMS
Common storm damage patterns.
Six patterns make up the vast majority of storm-related gutter calls in the Treasure Valley. If any of these describe what you are seeing, document it and call us.
Hail dents on K-style front lip
Common across Canyon County after summer storms. Dents on the front face look cosmetic but compromise the bead that holds the gutter shape — long runs start to sag at the seams within a season or two.
Wind-pulled sections
Wind events along the Foothills and out across Caldwell pop hidden hangers loose. You will see a low section where the gutter has slipped down by an inch or more, usually with water staining on the fascia behind it.
Ice-dam bent gutters
Freeze-thaw cycles in the Bench and North End force ice up and over the back of the gutter. When the weight finally lets go, it takes the front lip with it — bent outward, no longer holding water.
Downspout crush and separation
Wind-thrown branches and falling ice destroy downspouts faster than gutters. A crushed downspout backs the entire gutter run up; a separated one drops the full storm volume next to your foundation.
Debris-clogged systems after storms
Even gutters that look fine fail after a big storm if the downspouts are plugged with twigs, shingle grit, or pine debris. Overflow during the next rain looks like a leak but is actually a blockage downstream.
Fascia rot from prolonged backup
Damage you do not see until repair starts. If a gutter has been overflowing or back-pitching for a season, the fascia behind it is usually soft — and that fix gets added to the repair scope.
YOUR FOUR STEPS
What to do after a storm.
Photo-document before anything
Wide shots of every elevation, close-ups of every damage point, time-stamped if your phone can do it. Do this before tarping, before clean-up, before any contractor steps on the property.
Call your insurance carrier
File the claim before you commit to repairs. Your carrier will assign a claim number and either send an adjuster or ask for a contractor estimate. Either path needs documentation — yours and ours.
Call us for an on-site assessment
We will measure damage, photograph what you may have missed, and put together a written quote in the format adjusters expect. This is a normal estimate visit; we do not charge extra for storm assessments.
Get the written quote your insurance needs
Itemized linear footage, materials, downspouts, labor. We can email it directly to your adjuster if you forward us their contact info, or hand it to you to file yourself.
FOR YOUR CLAIM
Insurance documentation we provide.
Written assessment
Plain-language report of what we observed, where it is on the house, and what we believe caused it. Written for an adjuster, not for marketing.
Photo documentation
Wide elevation shots plus close-ups of every damage point. Captioned with location and what the photo shows. Delivered as a clean PDF.
Itemized quote
Linear footage, gutter profile, downspouts, accessories, and labor as separate line items. Adjusters can match it against their scope sheet directly.

A REAL CONVERSATION
When the deductible exceeds the damage.
Not every storm event is worth a claim. If you have a $2,500 deductible and the actual gutter damage is $1,400, filing costs you money and counts against your loss history.
We will tell you that honestly during the assessment. Sometimes the right call is an out-of-pocket repair. Sometimes the damage is significant enough to clear the deductible several times over. We give you the numbers so you can decide.
